Since 2001 I have been fortunate to be an FCI Judge.
I began with the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje and one year later, I passed the exams of the Stabijhoun, my own personal breed. That breed has been a part of my life since 1992. Later, the Drentsche Patrijshond was added to our flock. Both breeds are also bred by us.
That I mostly judge the Dutch breeds is pure coincidence (or maybe with a little bit of hidden pride).
In 1994 I started my kynological career as a secretary of a local Dog Association, where I also teach obedience, Kynological Knowledge, and more. I was one of the founders and the secretary of the cooperation of the Dutch Breed associations. At this moment I’m the secretary of the Royal Dutch Kennelclub Cynophilia and active on many levels in the kynology for different (Dutch) breed associations.
I was honored to judge several times in all the Scandinavian Countries, once in the UK and eight times in the USA. With the AKC-recognition of the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje in 2015, I was asked to be a member of the Judges education committee in the USA and made a booklet and educated several AKC-judges. At this moment I’m working, together with Janny Offereins, on a new book about the Dutch Breeds that will be published during this World Dog Show. It is with great pride that I accepted the opportunity to judge at this World Dog Show.
