I was born in 1966 in the Netherlands in a small city called Delft. As a child I grew up with dogs from all different breeds. I owned my first dog, a Labrador Retriever, in 2002. From this point onwards I fell in love with this breed and my interest grew in all aspects of the Cynology. This involved training with our dogs, showing and breeding with our Labradors. We bred a few litters under our kennel name Gentle Labs.
From 2004 I became involved in judging and training to become a judge. In 2012 I completed my Breed Speciality, the Labrador Retriever. Since then I have added 7 breeds to my FCI judging list: Sussex Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Newfoundland, Bernese Mountain Dog, Rhodesian Ridgeback and Jack Russell Terrier.
I have a broad interest in different breed groups and I hope to add to these in the future. One of my memorable highlights is judging at the Talavera de la Reina show in Spain in 2015. There I judged Labradors, Newfoundland and Bernese Mountain Dogs. I was also honoured to judge the Labradors at the Amsterdam Winner show in 2015 and the Sussex Spaniel at the United Spaniel Association in 2014 in England. As well as these I have judged at well-organized and lovely shows in Denmark and Germany.
My career has also led me to becoming a board member of the Dutch Association for dog show judges. I have held this position since 2013 and I hope that as a member I can make a positive contribution to the Cynology in The Netherlands.
Alongside my judging, I have worked as a nurse on an Intensive Care Unit for preterm babies and newborns for more than 20 years. I also love to travel, in particular on safari in Africa.
